Barrel Back is open year round and offers a great selection of northern Michigan favorites.

If you are visiting during the summer months, we recommend sitting at the dock bar. The view is amazing and the bartenders will make sure you have a great experience.

While dining inside, be sure to order up some of their wings. Barrel Back has the best wings in northern Michigan.

The views from the dining room look right down the lake and if you have a late evening dinner, you will experience one of the best sunsets you have ever witnessed.

Walloon Lake Inn

During the summer they offer a Sunday brunch and we highly recommend outdoor seating. The sounds from the lake along  with beautiful views of the lake will make this an experience you will never forget.

Walloon Lake Mooring Spots

Walloon Lake is made up of a lot of arms and bays, so it can be easy to find a calm spot on the lake to anchor up for the day and relax in the sun.

Three of the more popular locations are Eagle Point Bay, Wildwood Harbor and South Arm Bay. Generally no matter which way the wind is blowing, you will find calm waters in one of these locations.

Eagle Point Bay is large and runs anywhere from seven to ten foot in depth. This makes the water warmer, however boaters like to bring wakesurfers and tubers into this area.

Another great spot is along the shores just down from Camp Michigania. This area provides excellent cover from SW winds and typically remains out of boat wake. Just be careful for underwater tree debris and watch the depth, it will come up quick!

Walloon Lake Sandbars + Beach

Walloon Lake has two primary sandbar hangouts.

The larger of the two is located at Flag Point near the “centerpoint” of the lake. The sandbar has room for a good amount of boats.

The smaller sandbar is located in the channel that heads into the North Arm. This location is much smaller and you often deal with more boat wake.

The main beach on Walloon Lake is located at the bottom of the “Foot” in the Village of Walloon Lake. This small beach can fill up fast during the summer weekend months. This is a great beach to watch a beautiful northern Michigan sunset.
